Fall Food Trends: Bringing Some Summer to Your Autumn Lunch Delivery Order

Posted by on Tuesday, November 4th, 2014 with 4 Comments

Now that the fall season has crept into early November, there’s certainly no denying that the warm summer months are behind us. But that doesn’t mean that you have to completely abandon all of your favorite summertime food delivery tastes until warmer months are upon us again! In fact, one of our favorite things about ordering an out-of-season flavor for a lunchtime meal is that it evokes the feeling of a different time of year. And just because it’s getting a little chillier outside is no reason to skip out on some of the best food trends of the year.

Our favorite flavors of summer – like tasty fresh veggies, leafy greens paired with the citrus flavors you crave and adding yummy unexpected herbs like rosemary, fresh sage, and cilantro to your lemonade – are actually pretty easy to mix into your autumn meal choices. Mostly, summer meals are comprised of healthy, light ingredients that pack a lot of vitamins and energy into your day. This is what makes them so perfect for building a meal delivery order around. And to help give you some inspiration to incorporate some of these delicious flavors into your own fall food orders, we’ve listed our four favorites below.

Winter Squash and Arugula Salad

While squash isn’t perhaps a food that you typically think of for salads, it’s a wonderful way to combine the taste of your traditional greens with a wintery flavor that’s still fresh and healthy. It’s packed with vitamins and fiber, as well as manganese, which helps your body better process fats, carbs, and glucose. To add a little citrus to your day, this salad is mixed with pomegranate fruit – a superfood that can help lower your cholesterol and blood pressure, and speeds the pace of clearing heart blockages in your body. Not only will ordering this meal give you the taste of both summer and fall, it packs an awesome healthy punch, too.

Roasted Beets with Bacon and Feta Crumbles

One of the most popular food trends of late summer this year was incorporating more root vegetables into your diet. And carrying that into the late fall has never been easier. This meal offers a ton of flavor between the roasted beets, indulgent bacon, and tangy feta. And these ingredients offer huge health benefits: beets pack together folate and betaine, two nutrients that can help lower your risk of heart disease. And the betacyanins, which give beets their lovely color, have been shown to be a highly potent cancer fighter. Now that’s a reason to incorporate more of this delicious lunch into your weekly food delivery orders!

Scallops with a Side of Roasted Fig Salad

To incorporate some protein into your meal, fresh grilled scallops are a delicious and low calorie way to power through your afternoon – and seafood is a great way to bring some summertime flair into your autumn meal delivery. Paired with a yummy roasted fig salad, this meal packs all of the flavor you need to make for a new favorite dish. Mixed with hazelnuts, spinach and blue cheese, this side salad is packed with fiber, nutrients, antioxidants, protein, and flavor. It’s so good, it might actually steal the show of your main dish.

Asparagus with Tomatoes and Feta

There’s nothing that screams summertime meals than a little grilled asparagus salad. This tasty dish is topped with grilled cherry tomatoes and cubes of bread, then sprinkled with feta cheese and some fresh chives to finish off the flavor. Just like your favorite summertime meals, it’s full of fresh veggies and herbs. It’s topped with an indulgent dijon vinaigrette, which is really a low calorie way to add a lot of flavor to the salad. So tasty, you’ll definitely want to order this to be delivered to your office today.

The weather just got cold and I miss the summer already. I’ve been craving a salad but I’m so sick of the chicken salad I usually get. An asparagus salad sounds fantastic.

Roasted Beets with Bacon and Feta Crumbles sounds good and I like the fact it follows some of the food trends. It’s much better than the insect trend you mentioned a few weeks ago!
