As you’re finding new and exciting ways to bring healthier meals into your lunchtime options, one super tasty, nutrition packed way to do it is by choosing dishes inspired by the Mediterranean diet. And we’re not just talking about adding more hummus into your weekly routine. Instead, we’re referring to how you can incorporate more of the delicious ingredients like Kalamata olives, feta cheese, and fresh veggie goodness that comes with your favorite Greek meals into a healthy diet.

But we don’t just love Greek food because of the flavor; we love that it’s also a super healthy way to live. What this means is adopting a balanced, lean way of approaching foods. This particular meal plan is packed with fresh fruits and veggies, hearty whole grains, and lean fish. And eating in the way of the people along the Mediterranean coast has awesome benefits: it’s been proven to lower your risk of heart disease and reduce your risk of getting Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. So to help you take the next step and bring some of this delicious fare into your weekly routine, we’ve come up with some of our favorite lunchtime meal choices that offer a tasty Greek spin.

Mediterranean Diet Sandwich

When you want a balanced lunch that’s super easy to eat, packing lots of fresh veggies between two thick slices of tomato bread layered with avocado hummus is the perfect way to do it. Loaded with cucumbers, peppers, onions, lettuce, and olives, this delicious sandwich is fresh and tastes amazing. Fresh feta cheese and a little olive oil mixed with balsamic are added into the mix, creating what can only be described as a plate of deliciousness that you’ll be ordering every single week for lunchtime delivery. You definitely need to try this one today!

Fasolatha (Greek Bean Soup)

It’s that time of year – you know, the time when you’re looking for delicious soup options to pack into your weekly lunch routine. And Fasolatha is a super healthy soup that you’re sure to love. The base of this soup is comprised of navy beans, carrots, onion, and celery, which are then mixed with a little tomato sauce and olive oil. Consider this to be a Greek take on your traditional chili recipe, packed with protein and vitamins to keep you full and sated for the rest of your day!

Greek Salad

While it sounds like something you can get anywhere, a true Greek salad is something your tastebuds will swoon over. Loaded with fresh, chunky cut veggies like tomatoes, cucumbers, sliced onions and Kalamata olives, you’ll definitely get your daily fix of vegetable nutrients. For a little protein kick, try ordering yours with sliced grilled chicken. A lean meat that pairs really beautifully with the light flavor of the Greek balsamic dressing, it provides a finishing touch that brings all of these unique tastes together. This is a meal you will order again and again. We’re excited to hear how it becomes one of your favorites!

Mediterranean Frittata

When you’re looking for an amazing breakfast to order in – and start your day off on the right foot – a Greek frittata is the way to do it. Packed with arugula, feta cheese, and dill, this yummy egg-based meal packs as much flavor as it does protein, which will help you power through your day. Topped with a little parmesan cheese, it’s a flavor concoction you’ll love so much, you won’t even realize how good it is for you.

We love Mediterranean-inspired fare, simply because it’s fresh, healthy, and delicious. Because it’s such a balanced way to eat, it’s a great way to get a lunchtime meal with flavors you love that’s also really great for keeping yourself focused and productive all day long. I found this rather informative and interesting because I have been wanting to try some Mediterranean foods for a while now. I did not know until now how much it would benefit me due to being a heart healthy choice especially since I suffer from a heart issue myself and heart disease runs deep in my family genes.

It’s super heart healthy, but also really delish. My personal favorite is the Mediterranean sandwich.

I had no idea that eating Greek food could help prevent diseases like Parkinsons and Alzheimers. I eat Greek food all the time, I specifically love Gyros and Spankopitas. I’m glad to know it’s going to help me stay healthy later on in life.

I often dabble in Mediterranean Greek food from time to time but I find it difficult to change the diet I grew up accustom to. Maybe for my New Year’s Resolution I will put more effort into it.

It’s really yummy, which makes it a little easier to switch to. Plus, it’s highly balanced, so you’re not cutting out major food groups to get healthy!
