If you’re in Mountain View, you might not know that Erik’s has been an institution for over 40 years. In 1974, Erik Johnson opened his first joint in Scotts Valley, buying his property for the princely sum of $429 dollars (because $430 would have been an outrageous price). Well, from such humble beginnings come great things, because now that amazing taste of Erik’s can be brought to your Bay Area home or business.

If you’re looking for a great sandwich, then you are in luck: that’s what Erik’s is known for, and in our opinion, rightfully so. When the wind is blowing off the water, we love to get a hot Reuben sandwich, or a Chicken Pesto, or maybe, if we’re feeling bold, the Raging Bull, roast beef with mild green chili peppers and pepper jack cheese on a toasted onion bun. There are plenty of classic cold sandwiches as well, like the thick and mouth-watering Rio Grande Club or the Pot Belly- turkey, pastrami, and Monterey Jack cheese on sourdough with Erik’s famous “Secret Goo”. There are some great vegetarian options, and all sandwiches can be made gluten-free to accommodate your needs.

Looking for something with bread and soup? Try one of Erik’s famous sourdough bread bowls, served with one of their amazing homemade soups, like the Tomato Basil Bisque or the Chicken Rice. Don’t forget the Texas Jailhouse Chili, thick enough to stand a spoon. But if you don’t want to choose, you can go for one of Erik’s Combos, with various permutations of soup, sandwich, and salad (did we mention they have amazing salads, too? Well, consider it mentioned).

40 years is a long time to be around. Even humans who are around for 40 years only remember the last 25 or so (with some of those years more fuzzy than others). But a restaurant like Erik’s never forgets where it started, and most importantly, never forgets the keys to its longevity: great food, great prices, great experience. Waiter.com lets you bring all that right to your door.
