I live in NYC and sometimes it’s hard to find healthy take out you could order online. My wife and I started eating a bit healthier this year but ordering out for us is a one time a week thing since we can’t find anything to healthy to choose from.

That can be tough – sometimes it’s helpful to just modify the meal you order, like asking for your chicken grilled instead of fried.

I really hope this services opens its horizon to LA. In this city where Grub hub & all the other delivery services dominate, its hard trying to pick healthier choices when the wrong ones are so easily accessible. Even in my lazy moments I’d much rather eat clean.

I had a resolution to be healthier and cook my own meals. Sadly, I just haven’t had the time or energy to change my habits. It seems the new year brought a busier schedule! When I think of takeout I don’t generally think of things that are healthy, but now I’ll keep my eye out for healthier options so I can at least get one of my resolutions down!

I know how you feel – sometimes life can get a LOT busier in the new year! The key is to keep trying to push for those goals. You’ll get there!

I’ve been able to stick to my resolutions by preparing all my meals for the week at once. Every Sunday I cook a TON of chicken breast and prepare salads and put it in tupperware for the week.

I dunno. Making a resolution to eat healthier is usually tied into weight loss goals. And it seems having a service with readily available food is counterproductive. I mean I would order a whole bunch of “healthy” good tasting items all the while and still over eat and still not achieve my aims.

  6. Lindsay says:

I do think that generally take-out should be understood as not being the healthiest of options. When I get takeout I count it as my freebie meal 🙂 It is good to hear there are healthier options available!

    • Amelia K. says:

Haha – great point! It definitely depends on what kinds of foods you order. Everything in moderation!

I have been working out every morning since the beginning of the new year. I make myself a fruit and vegetable smoothie before I head out the door so I am not tempted by the bakery down the street. I have been keeping my resolutions and when we go out to eat, a salad with grilled chicken on it is usually my first choice.

I do agree that reaching a 30 day mark on a New Year’s Resolution does call for some type of small celebration. If you’ve been super restrictive, and we all usually do get that way, it’s nice to take a day’s break from the restriction and have a little something different than what you’ve been stuck with all month long. Spicing things up with some signature Chinese dishes or Mexican sounds like the right kind of mini-break/celebration. It’s nice to see that a person can have this tastiness and still have it be healthy and since most of us are rushed, it’s even better that it can be delivered right to our front door. I really like the fact that Waiter.com is reaching out to those of us who are trying to be healthy and saving us with tasty dishes that won’t kill our diets!

We’re making the same kinds of resolutions you are, Kristy. Thanks for the great feedback!

This is a great idea. I hope it catches on in other cities. I sometime stray from my healthy habits and this would be a good way for me to stay on track. I know I’m not the only one!

  10. Kirk says:

There are actually many healthy take-out options in most major cities. It is more about poor choices than lack of options.

    • Amelia K. says:

Thanks for the note, Kurt! And this is true: there are healthy choices, you just sometimes have to seek them out.

  11. g arms says:

What a great thing to do, providing healthy deliver food options. Many people resort to fast food for convenience but it it were delivered to you that couldn’t be more convenient.

  12. Quincy says:

I absolutely agree with what Kirk said – it all comes down to choices. Here in Portland there are a lot of diverse, healthy eating options.

    • Amelia K. says:

There are more restaurants than ever before bringing healthy meals to the table. It’s just a matter of knowing about the options they provide and then choosing them 🙂

  13. Chelsea Llerena says:

Its great to have some healthy options for takeout. Just because you want something quick and convenient doesn’t mean it has to hurt your health as well. Bravo
