Round Table Pizza

Round Table History

Over thirty years of Real Pizza

The first Round Table Pizza restaurant opened in 1959, founded by William Larson. Starting with an old English theme and a $2,500 loan, Larson established his new concept restaurant in Menlo Park, California. Three years later he began franchising the concept.

In 1979, a group of six investors headed by Richard Dumke purchased the chain, which had grown to over 150 restaurants. Aware that they had a superior product and strong operational systems, the new team launched a marketing and advertising campaign focusing on quality and freshness. In the first year following the new advertising, sales increased more than 30%. Over the next five years, Round Table experienced explosive growth, expanding to more than 400 restaurants.

Today, Round Table is one of the nation's largest pizza chains, with approximately 560 restaurants in the western states, and additional restaurants in Asia and the Middle East. Most restaurants offer delivery.

Round Table's advertising campaigns continue to stress quality, but with the addition of specialty items such as the Gourmet sandwiches and pizzas, "All Kinds of Wonderful" has become the current theme.

In 1990, Round Table's commitment to quality was resinforced and its dedication to service was expanded through an internal campaign focusing on "Quality, Service, and Cleanliness," (QSC). The QSC campaign rates and rewards outstanding restaurants, ensuring Round Table's position in the competitive pizza industry as a market leader.

During Round Table's 35 years of serving pizza and other special products, one important fact has remained constant: consumers recognize Round Table as offering a consistently superior pizza product. Indeed an unswerving commitment to quality, is the mainstay of Round Table's operational and marketing efforts.
